No packages, no minimum hours - just flexible, reliable tuition to put you on the road to IB success.
Not a penny until you've found your perfect tutor
We know that only great matches lead to great tuition. So you don’t pay for anything until you’ve accepted and had your first lesson with a tutor. That means no fee of any kind until you have had the time to discover how great a match your tutor is.
Our tutoring tiers reflect the experience of each tutor, giving you a reliable and quick way to request support from a tutor who suits your learning style perfectly. We split our tutors into ‘Standard’, ‘Higher’, and ‘Top’ Tier, so you can quickly appraise their experience and suitability.
Tutors in our Standard Tier are regularly recent IB graduates who obtained a 7 in the Higher Level subjects they tutor and are pursuing the same discipline at university.
Their youth and enthusiasm, as recent IB alumni, help them bring together rigorous academic support with an energy and approachability which helps students demonstrate their ability and ambition.
We find students who are struggling to enjoy or engage with an IB subject benefit particularly from Standard Tier tutors, whose youth and enthusiasm for their subjects can help enthuse students and motivate them to devote more time and effort to the subject.
Ideal for +
Our Higher Tier comprises IB teachers and Examiners who taught IB programmes in IB schools, as well as tutors who have worked with us for many years and have receive consistently outstanding feedback from students.
They combine impressive experience delivering one-to-one support to students with impressive knowledge of the syllabi in the subjects EIB has cleared them to teach to our students.
Many of our Higher Tier tutors are IB teachers and IBO Examiners, which make them ideal for students who are looking to extend the classroom environment to their home, and learn with the structure and authority teachers provide.
Ideal For +
Our final tier of tutor is composed of individuals who combine unrivalled experience and knowledge with a history of providing outstanding IB support, particularly of EIB’s students.
Tutors in this tier include former Heads of IB schools and departments, professors and lecturers at prestigious universities, longstanding IBO Examiners as well tutors with whom we’ve worked with closely for many, many years.
Flexibility and reliability are at the core of the way we organise your tuition with an EIB tutor. To do so, we charge tuition at an hourly rate, dependent on the tier of your tutor.
We don't want payment to slow down your tuition, so we invoice you after your support and ask you to settle by card online.
Invoices are generated when you’ve completed a certain number of lessons, or on a monthly basis - whichever happens first.
With every invoice we will send a payment link, and ask you to settle the costs by card - debit or credit - within 7 days.
Why we don't offer packages of tuition
Other IB tuition agencies offer students packages of hours. Often, these come with titles like “Exam Starter Pack” or “Complete Subject Support”. While we understand the economies of savings these offer students and families, we have a strong belief at EIB that every student is different, needs to find the tutor that works for them, and needs the support and guidance to explore the IB at a pace and in a way which matches their learning style. We do not believe all students can be tutored for an exam in the same 10 hour block and think it irresponsible to suggest standardised learning like this will work for every student. Instead, we ask families to work with EIB and their tutors to make sure the support they’re receiving offers the best progress and approach for their circumstance. You can read more about how we monitor student’s progress - and how we take into account each student’s profile when making proposals of tutors to them - on the ‘How it Works’ page, or by contacting us at [email protected]
Where families are looking for economies - or where multiple students may wish to work together with a tutor - we offer group lessons. Group lessons are charged at the tutor’s typical rate, plus £20 (~€22) per additional student, with the total shared between students. Group lessons can include up to 4 students, and be both online and face-to-face. If you’d like to know more, please email us at [email protected]
Why we ask families to pay a one-off linking fee
We work very hard to put students in touch with the perfect tutor for them, rather than just placing them with the first available tutor like other IB agencies do. We regularly speak at length with families before they register with us, discussing their needs, ideal tutor, availability and more to understand their circumstances. When students register with us we then spend two days speaking with tutors, sharing anonymised information about the student with them, completing DBS checks and more. Registration Fees (aka Linking Fees) cover the administrative cost of this process. Families only pay it once, and it entitles them to request tutors in new subjects at no cost at any time.
Why we charge in sterling (£)
EIB has offices in London, The Hague, Geneva and Singapore. We began our work in the Netherlands in 2017, with a local educational director and tutor base. At the moment, we charge for lessons in pounds sterling (£). In 2021 we will transition to invoicing families in equivalent rates in Euros. Our rates are the same as our other regional branches, and there is no impact on you with respect to foreign exchange or other factors when paying for our services.
Joe has been tutoring me for my EE. His experience with the IB as a teacher and Examiner is very clear in his teaching. He has been excellent in all of the lessons that I have had with him and I'm very happy with his teaching style.
